Mesotherapy

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an aesthetic medicine technique consisting of micro-injections of customized cocktails of medications, vitamins, amino acids, and lipolytic substances directly into the subcutaneous tissue of the area to be treated. By acting locally, the injected substances reach high concentrations exactly where needed, with superior efficacy compared to topical application. It is a versatile treatment successfully used to combat cellulite, localized fat deposits, water retention, and for skin rejuvenation.

Who is it suitable for?

• Grade I-III cellulite, to improve microcirculation, reduce retention, and soften the "orange peel" appearance • Localized fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise, such as hips, thighs, abdomen, and knees • Water retention and lower limb swelling, to stimulate lymphatic drainage and reduce fluid stagnation • Skin rejuvenation of face, neck, and décolleté, using cocktails based on hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants • Alopecia and hair thinning, with specific formulations that stimulate the hair follicle

Who should avoid it?

• Known allergies to medications or substances used in the mesotherapy cocktail, which must always be communicated to the doctor before treatment • Pregnancy and breastfeeding, as a precautionary principle regarding the safety of injected substances • Coagulation disorders or ongoing anticoagulant therapy, due to the risk of bruising and bleeding • Active skin infections in the treatment area • Severe liver or kidney failure, which could compromise the metabolism of injected medications

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes 20-30 minutes depending on the extent of the area being treated. It is performed in the office without any special preparation. Micro-injections are administered with very fine needles spaced approximately 1-2 cm apart, evenly distributing the cocktail in the tissue. Recovery is immediate: normal activities can be resumed right after the session. Mild redness or small wheals in the following hours may occur, which resolve spontaneously.

Is anesthesia required?

No actual anesthesia is needed. Micro-injections are administered with extremely fine needles (30-32 gauge) that cause minimal discomfort, generally well tolerated. For more sensitive patients, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied 15-20 minutes before treatment. The use of an automatic mesotherapy gun makes the procedure even faster and more comfortable, ensuring uniform depth and distribution of injections.

When are results visible?

Mesotherapy results are progressive and cumulative: first improvements are generally noticed after 4-6 sessions, with visible reduction in cellulite, swelling, and localized fat deposits. Optimal results are achieved at the end of the complete cycle of 8-10 sessions. For skin rejuvenation, the skin appears more radiant and toned after the first 3-4 sessions. Results last longer when combined with a healthy lifestyle including regular physical activity.

How many sessions are needed?

A complete cycle generally involves 8-10 sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis for cellulite and localized fat deposits. For facial skin rejuvenation, 4-6 sessions are sufficient. After the initial cycle, maintenance sessions every 2-4 weeks are recommended to consolidate the results achieved. The frequency and number of sessions are personalized based on individual response and the severity of the imperfection being treated.
